Four US Marines have been shot dead at a Navy Reserve Centre in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The FBI and the other agencies are gonna investigate this case thoroughly. They will determine - after the facts are determined - whether it's an act of terrorism at all, whether it's a crime and what the nature of that crime is.
Local media citing law enforcement officials have identified the suspect as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez.
The gunman is also believed to have been responsible for a separate shooting at a Navy recruitment office ten kilometres away.
Police sources say the suspect was shot dead a couple of hours after he opened fire.
Bill Killian, US Attorney for the eastern district of Tennessee, urged the media not to “put a label” on the nature of the crime.
“The FBI and the other agencies are gonna investigate this case thoroughly. They will determine – after the facts are determined – whether it’s an act of terrorism at all, whether it’s a crime and what the nature of that crime is, or whether it’s a combination of those,” he told the press.
Officials say one police officer and a marine were injured in the attacks.
