Vanity has achieved something Australian police were seemingly incapable of – catching a man wanted for traffic and drug matters.

Victoria Police in Australia published a post to its Facebook page, asking the public for help in tracing Daniel Damon, including a photo of him.

Damon, wanted for failing to answer bail, cheekily commented on the post, asking for a “better mugshot”.

The force told Damon, 25, to come to his nearest police station where officers would be happy to arrange for a new picture.

Damon took them up on their offer and was later detained.

Victoria Police said in another post on the social networking website, which recorded more than 13,000 likes: “We are happy to report that Daniel Damon, who was wanted on warrants, will be getting the new photo he requested. He was arrested today.”

The force later added: “Sorry everyone, unfortunately due to Victorian legislation we will be unable to share the latest results from Daniel’s photoshoot.”

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)0; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));> We are happy to report that Daniel Damon, who was wanted on warrants, will be getting the new photo he requested. He was arrested today.
