Barcelona’s new mayor has launched a one year ban on new tourist accommodation.

Mayor Ada Colau says she wants to avoid a saturation of the market.

The new measure is thought to be aimed at rooms advertised on peer-to-peer property websites like Airbnb.com.

It will also affect new hotels and hostel rooms.

The huge numbers of tourists in the center of the city have triggered numerous complaints from local residents.
