Russia enjoyed a golden double in three on three basketball tournament at the European games in Baku Azerbaijan.

The women’s team handled the pressure well to beat Ukraine 22-17 in the final.

While the men completed the clean sweep of the basketball gold medals when they saw off the challenge of a much-fancied Spanish side 18-14.

British boxer Joe Joyce punched his way to gold in the men’s super heavyweight division.

Joyce came from behind to beat Russian Gasan Gimbatov, who ended the night with a trip to the hospital after receiving some punishing blows.

Russia continued to turn the European Games into a private members club when they picked up another gold in the women’s team foil discipline.

They beat France 45-18 in the final.

Arina Openysheva took her gold medal tally to six when she beat dutch swimmer Marrit Steenbergen in the women’s 200m freestyle.

She was one of five russian winners on Friday in the pool out of seven gold on offer.
