Belgium: hanging up on the phone booth

Belgium has made the call to dismantle its remaining phone booths.

Two years ago the government lifted a rule for former national operator Proximus to provide cabins.

Increased mobile phone usage saw a huge drop in the demand for payphones, with Proximus’ chairman eventually labelling them ‘obsolete.’
