A founding member of Spain’s recently founded left-wing Podemos party resigned on Thursday.

Juan Carlos Monedero expressed disappointment at the party’s direction, fearing it could become more mainstream.
“My party is the most decent there is…but sometimes we appear to be like those that we want to replace,” Monedero said in a radio interview.
Earlier this year he confirmed that he had been involved in advisory work for some left-wing governments in Latin America, a move criticised by Conservative politicians in Spain.
