The charges held against US journalist Jason Rezaian by Iranian authorities are “absurd,” the White House said on Monday (April 20).

Rezaian, the Washington Post’s bureau chief in Tehran, was detained in 2014. According to the newspaper, he has been charged with spying and other security-related charges.
