No stages of Dakar 2016 will take place in Chile after the devastation caused by recent flooding.
Chilean authorities are engaged in rebuilding and relief programmes, which make it impractical to race there.
The government says the main priority of the country is to assist those in the north hit hardest by the devastation.
Chile has not ruled out hosting stages in the 2017 edition.
Chile has been an integral part of the rally since 2009.
The 2016 Dakar route will be announced by organisers on April 16.
