He also set up the second, which Marcelo drove into the top corner.

With the 2-0 victory, Real Madrid take a healthy lead into their match in Madrid on 10 March.

Basel 1 – 1 Porto

Gonzalez gave Basel a first-half lead, but went off injured.

Referee Mark Clattenburg, who booked nine players during the match, ruled out a goal by Porto midfielder Casemiro.

Clattenburg also awarded a controversial late penalty allowing Danilo to score – bringing the game to a close at 1-1.
