In the United States, a man who frequently posted Facebook quotes critical of religion has been charged with murdering three young Muslims. Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, is believed to have carried out the killings near a campus of the University of North Carolina.
The shooting sparked the hashtag #MuslimLivesMatter on social media, with posters also questioning what role the students’ faith may have played in the incident.
