French police have arrested two people after a motorist injured a policewoman outside President Francois Hollande’s official residence in Paris.

Some eyewitnesses say a car was driving the wrong way down a one way street and deliberately targeted the officer.

The incident occured on Wednesday night outside the back of the Elysee Palace. France is on high security alert after three days of violence last week.

Police say it appears to be unconnected to the tragic events during which 17 people were killed in attacks by suspected Islamic militants.
