Palestine will be appearing at their first ever Asian Cup in Australia this month.

Led by team captain Ramzi Saleh, the ‘knights’ will open their campaign against Japan, the reigning continental champions and four time Asian Cup winners with the game taking place in Newcastle on Monday.

While the Palestinians are outsiders against Shinji Kagawa’s team-mates, subsequent group games against Iraq and Jordan will likely be more important in determining whether Ahmed El-Hassan’s men can surprise the world of football by making the last eight.
