The women only crew manning the Team SCA boat romped to a convincing victory in the Volvo Ocean Race in-port Race in Abu Dhabi.

Wind was a problem early on but the boat, skippered by Sam Davies, forced its way to the front of the race.

Officials agreed there was enough blow for a contest and the all female crew built an early lead and continued to make time on their rivals.

They finished 1.28 seconds ahead of the second boat Team Brunei.

The crew won’t have much time to celebrate as they head off later to cover the 5,264 nautical miles from Abu Dhabi to Sanya in China, in the third off-shore leg.

Team SCA are the first all female crew to take part in the Volvo Ocean Race in 12 years.
