Lapo Elkann is known for his innovative designs and fashion flair. He is part of Italy’s famous Fiat family but has in his own words, “created my own ladder to have to climb, compared to the one my family has created for itself.”

  • Lapo Elkann, born October 1977, is one of the heirs to Italy’s famous Fiat empire and has gained global notoriety in his own right for his design skills, becoming a recognized style icon.
  • Before leaving Fiat he coordinated the reinvention of classics like the Fiat Punto and Fiat 500 and is now currently President of Italia Independent and Independent ideas.
  • Lapo is often referred to as the ‘entrant terrible’ of the famous Agnelli family his appearance in gossip magazines peaked in 2005 when he was found near death after a drug overdose. But he has since reinvented himself better known for his professional rather than personal life.

In climbing that ladder he has won plaudits for his creativity and designs. He is an entrepreneur who travels extensively, ready to strike out on his own and to meet the challenges of his work place.

He uses his vast experience to work with young people and in talking to euronews outlined the difficulties he believed are present for aspiring entrepreneurs.

“Be prepared to fight. Fight does not mean war, it means challenge yourself….And if you can fight your battles as a team it’s easier than alone,” he said.
