After weeks of negativity about security and costs, the Winter Games came to a close in Sochi on Sunday with initial criticism giving way to stories of sporting endeavor.
Thomas Bach praised his first Olympics as IOC president and the nation that hosted it: “As it turned out, transportation went smoothly with no major problems reported while feared attacks by Islamic militants who threatened to target the event didn’t materialise.”
