LONDON - A flagship precious metals dinner due to be held on Wednesday in London has been cancelled due to worries about the Omicron variant of coronavirus, the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) said on Monday.

The dinner, attracting hundreds of participants, was being held along with two other organisations, the London Platinum and Palladium Market and the International Precious Metals Institute.

"This decision has been made due to tightening COVID-19 restrictions in the UK and around the world," a statement said.

A seminar on the same day will go ahead as a virtual event, it added.
