Prosecutors have been given more time to question two suspects over a horrific fire at a building in Strasbourg that left five dead and seven injured.

The extension was granted after a second expert suggested criminal involvement in the blaze, sources told AFP.

Almost 50 firefighters tackled the inferno, which began in the early hours of Thursday and left nine other residents homeless.

Local officials originally suspected an electrical fault as the likely cause.
