The Catalan Parliament has met for the first time since December elections.

The Parliament has not yet formed a government - and the world will be watching to see if they choose to follow a pro-independence agenda. Secessionist parties did not win the popular vote although they did win the majority of the seats in the Parliament.

The Parliament is also waiting for to see if exiled -former leader Carles Puigdemont will be allowed to return for re-election.

Legal experts say Puigdemont cannot rule unless he is physically in Catalonia. His exile in Belgium has caused increasing tension between the Spanish capital Madrid and Barcelona.
