The actress Salma Hayek claims Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein once threatened to kill her.

Writing in the New York Times the star described Weinstein as a rage-fuelled "monster", alleging that he sexually harassed and threatened her.

In the article the actress says that Weinstein hated the word 'no' when making sexual advances, she questions why women are subjected to such behaviour and welcomes the fact that his alleged victims are now speaking out.

Hayek says she said 'no' to taking a shower with Weinstein, no to letting him give her a massage, and no to giving him oral sex.

Mr Weinstein has been accused of rape, sexual assault and harassment by a number of women including actresses Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow. He has strongly denied the claims. In a statement his spokeswoman said that all the allegations as portrayed by Salma Hayek are "not accurate and others who witnessed the events have a different account of what transpired."
