Rio Ferdinand says he has accepted a challenge to move into professional boxing.

“I think all of my career I’ve been kind of used to competition, I think I’ve fuelled myself off of competition and I’ve probably been searching for that since I’ve retired,” said the former Manchester United and England captain. “I’m still quite into my fitness.”

Ferdinand says he will apply for a boxing licence after some intense training.
