Real Madrid have beaten arch-rivals Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Supercup.

The 3-1 victory saw Barca defender Nilson Pique open the scoring against his own side, netting an own goal to put Real Madrid ahead.

A converted penalty from Lionel Messi saw the Catalan side equalise after Luis Suarez was fouled in the box by Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a wonderful solo goal, only to be sent off a minutes later after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession for his provocative celebration and for diving. He will miss Wednesday’s second leg in Madrid.

Marco Asensio scored Real’s third goal of the night.
