Warriors thrash Spurs in series whitewash to advance to NBA finals

Stephen Curry scored 36 points as the Golden State Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals.

The away side dominated their opponents and completed a 4-0 sweep of the Spurs with a 129-115 win in San Antonio.

San Antonio faced a daunting task in Game 4 without injured star Kawhi Leonard.

A 3-pointer by Patty Mills in the second quarter gave the home side a commanding lead of 36 points to 27.

The Warriors offence was relentless and the home side piled on the pressure, Kevin Durant adding to the scoreboard with a 3-pointer in the third quarter to give them a 20-point lead.

Stephen Curry was in scintillating form, and a 3-pointer extended the Warriors winning margin late in the third quarter.

Manu Ginobili was in fine form for the Spurs, with a layup cutting the deficit late on, but it was not enough to save the game.

The win by 129 points to 115 handed the Warriors a 4-0 series clean sweep, and they advance to the NBA Finals for the third consecutive year.
