Haradinaj was a guerilla commander during the 1998-99 Kosovo war.

He was detained when he flew into France on January 4 following a request from Serbia.

Belgrade wants to try him for war crimes in connection with his role in the insurgency in its former southern province of Kosovo.

The arrest has further strained the ties between Serbia and Kosovo.

Pristina declared independence with Western backing in 2008 and has demanded Belgrade drop its efforts to prosecute people linked to the conflict.
