Maverick Vinales wins Qatar Grand Prix

Maverick Vinales won the season-opener Qatar Grand Prix ahead of Andrea Dovitsiozo and Valentino Rossi.

The race marked by rain delays and crashes, notably rookie rider Johann Zarco, from France, who crashed out in lap seven after leading the race

Vinales started on pole but fell back to fifth place.

The Spaniard eventually pulled himself back into contention. First by passing Mark Marquez

He went head to head with Ducati’s Dovitsiozo and it was the Movistar rider who emerged winner in their duel in the desert.

Rossi who was unable to challenge for the top spots on the podium, finished third
