Petra Vlhova wins the last ladies' slalom of the year in Aspen as Shiffrin gets the Crystal Globe.
Slovakia’s Petra Vlhova spoiled the party for the home fans who had gathered in Aspen to see the coronation of their queen, Mikaela Shiffrin, in the last slalom of the year.
Shiffrin may have long won the overall title, but on the day it was Vlhova who would not be denied. Shiffrin briefly took the lead after a storming second run with only two women left to race, but one of those was the determined Slovenian.
It has been a special year for the American, who becomes only the third US woman to win the overall title.
