Lewis Hamilton hailed his new car as “pretty awesome” after taking it for a spin around the Silverstone track.
The 32-year-old British driver is aiming to go one better than his second place last season, and will be hoping the new Mercedes W08 can carry him to his fourth Formula One title.
Despite winning ten races in 2016, Hamilton was pipped to the championship by former team-mate Nico Rosberg, who has now retired.
The driver’s new partner is Finland’s Valtteri Bottas, who finished eighth last year for Williams.

Following big rule changes over the winter, lap times should be several seconds quicker than 2016.
Wider tyres and different aerodynamics are designed to make cars faster, but with the speed comes more difficult handling and higher G-forces for the drivers.
Hamilton said: “Yesterday was the first time seeing the car come together. It’s the most detailed piece of machinery I’ve seen so far in Formula One.
“The car feels wider, which it is obviously. The front tyres obviously feel huge.”
Testing will begin in Barcelona next week, ahead of the start of the season on March 26 in Australia.
