The UCI has held its very first bike race on snow at Gstaad in Switzerland, which hosted the third and final stage of the Snow Bike festival.

Nicola Rohrbach wore the Qloom leader’s jersey with a 45-second cushion over second-placed Florian Chenaux. Well, in fact he extended that lead to hold a comfortable wining margin when he took the trophy. Germany’s Sascha Weber had to settle for another third place.

Hielke Elferink won the womens’ race with over four minutes in hand, and this after struggling with the setup of her race bike only to dump it before the off to compete on a bog standard mountain bike.

She was the only rider to beat the previously dominant Katrin Leumann, but she still took the overall title.
