A major rescue operation is underway in southeast Turkey where a copper mine collapsed on Thursday.

At least three miners have been killed and more than ten others are trapped at the privately-owned pit near the town of Sirvan in Siirt province.

According to media reports, the disaster followed a landslide in the region.

It happened as miners were working a night shift.
