A date has been set for peace in Colombia.

The country’s president announced he will sign a peace deal with the FARC rebel group on September 26.

Juan Manuel Santos and long-time for Timochenko will shake hands and sign a final peace accord in the colonial city of Cartagena.

FARC which is the acronym for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, has been fighting a five-decade long insurgency against the Colombian state which, according to figures from the Council of Foreign Relations, has killed an estimated 220,000 dead and displaced 5.7 million displaced over the last half century.
