Thomas Pieters put himself in contention for a Ryder Cup wild card after winning the Made In Denmark for his third career European Tour title.
The Belgian kept his nerve following a four hour rain delay to mix seven birdies with a single bogey for a final round six under par 65.
That score left him with a 17 under total and a one shot victory.
His win at the Himmerland Golf and Spa resort in Farso will surely give Europe’s Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke plenty to think about.
Pieters will not secure one of Team Europe’s automatic places for the biennial showdown that starts at the end of this month in Minnesota.
But he will be firmly on the radar of Clarke who makes his three Captain’s picks on Tuesday with Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer – who finished joint sixth – firm favourites for two spots.
Pieters finished the event one shot clear of Welshman and overnight leader Bradley Dredge, who had to settle for a second runers up spot in Denmark from the past three editions.
