South America’s first Olympic Games kicked off as the Swedish women’s football team defeated South Africa 1-0 at Rio’s Olympic stadium.

South America’s first Olympic Games kicked off as the Swedish women’s football team defeated South Africa 1-0 at Rio’s Olympic stadium.

After a relatively slow start to the game, Sweden stepped it up a gear in the second-half as Nilla Fischer found the back of the net in the 75th minute.

Elsewhere, Brazil got off to a winning start as they outclassed China 3-0 on home soil.
