Stage 8 of the Tour de France saw holder, Sky’s Chris Froome, flex his muscles in the 2016 race.
Four big mountains stood tall between the starting pointing in Pau and the finish 184 km later in Bagnères-de-Luchon.
Froome’s attack was unusual and shows what an innovative cyclist he has become as the lead group ached over the mighty Peyresourde Froome went hell for leather on the lightening quick and swooping descent into Luchon.
To win the stage in such a spectacular manner was truly epic.
The result will be like a stab in the heart of the other GC contenders especially Contador who was dropped on the Peyresourde.
Froome goes into yellow for the first time this edition 16 seconds ahead of Adam Yates and Joaquim Rodriguez.
