Arsenal have started to bolster their ranks ahead of next season after signing Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Gunners have reportedly paid 46 million euros for the 23-year-old’s services on a long term contract.

Xhaka has played 41 times for his country and will join up with his new team-mates after Euro 2016

On his move to London Xhaka said: “I like the style of football in the Premier League. It’s aggressive and I like the way Arsenal play football. It’s not like other countries but it’s very very nice here.”

Xhaka began his senior career at his home town club of Basel before moving to the Bundesliga where he scored six goals in 108 appearances.

He is Arsenal’s first signing since the club finished runners-up to champions Leicester last season.
