Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has become eligible to play for France at this summer’s European Championships on home soil after an appeals court lifted restrictions on his movements.
Benzema has been under investigation for his part in an alleged blackmail plot relating to a sex tape involving international team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.
The Versailles court of appeal upheld a February 18 magistrate’s ruling that lifted a ban on Benzema meeting Valbuena – a ban that meant they could not be in the same squad.
It now remains to be seen if Benzema will be selected after being suspended from France duty in December.
