Vincenzo Nibali sounded the warning bells to his principle rivals on Sunday after the Italian champion secured overall victory at the Tour of Oman.
The final challenge of the seventh edition of the race took the competitors over a hilly 130 kilometre ride from Muscat to Matrah Corniche.
A group of seven riders forged clear for the break of the day, but were all reeled in as the the bunch hit the final lap of the finishing circuit.
The sprint to stage honours saw Norway’s Alexander Kristoff blast out in front for his second win of the race and his fifth in total this season while Nibali crossed over safely in the bunch to take the overall win.
