U.S. Olympic gold medallist skier Picabo Street was charged with assault and domestic violence after an alleged altercation with her father in Utah.
Street, one of the most popular figures of her sport in the 1990s, told police that during a fight last month she pushed her father down the stairs and locked him in the basement.
The 44 year old won the Super G at the 1988 Winter Olympics and the downhill at the 1996 World Championships.
She also World Cup downhill season titles in 1995 and 1996, the first American to do so.
Street, who was arrested at her home in Utah has denied all charges.
