Left-wing leader Alexis Tsipras has been sworn in as prime minister of Greece after his Syriza party beat its conservative rivals in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

It’s a second chance for Tsipras to see through reforms and implement a third bailout with lenders.

Tsipras took a civil oath of allegiance to the Greek constitution with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos late om Monday (September 21) in a break from tradition which is normally in the presence of religious leaders.

Tsipras won Sunday’s election with about 35 percent of the vote and is expected to ally with the right-wing Independent Greeks, his coalition partner in the previous government.
