Mayweather bows out of boxing equaling Marciano's legendary record

“It’s over and that’s official.” So said boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. scotching any hints he could make a return to the ring.

The 38-year-old cemented his place among the pantheon of greats with a unanimous points decision over fellow American Andre Berto to retain his WBC and WBA welterweight titles.

It took his career record to 49 – 0 matching the benchmark set by former heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano.

“There’s nothing else to accomplish,” said the man who has made more than 700 million dollars in his career. Even so few expect him to retire.
