In a shock result, Serbia have been crowned champions of the Under-20 World Cup after beating Brazil in the final in New Zealand on Saturday.

The side saw off the their South American rivals 2-1 in Auckland with goals from Stanisa Mandic and Nemanja Maksimovic.

Serbia’s coach Veljko Paunovic said the team had a “lot of good players{…}who will play in the best games in the world over the next ten years.”

In stark contrast to the country’s success at youth level, Serbia’s senior team has performed poorly over the past five years.
