The director of the US Drug Enforcement Administration, Michele Leonhart, will step down next month, amid allegations that DEA agents attended sex parties with prostitutes funded by drug lords.

A congressional committee will seek to establish whether the agents divulged any sensitive information during the parties, attended by prostitutes, which took place in Colombia between 2001 and 2005.
