Two people were killed when a Russian drone attack sparked a fire in a 24-storey residential building in Kyiv early Wednesday, Ukraine’s State Emergency Services said.
The blaze damaged apartments and left debris scattered around the building, while several cars were destroyed.
Resident Liia Matviienko said she and her partner were asleep when they saw flames outside their window and their windows collapsed inward onto their bed.
They fled barefoot into the hallway as thick smoke filled their apartment. In another district, seven parked cars caught fire in the courtyard of an apartment building.
Damage was also reported elsewhere in the Ukrainian capital.
