Three people were killed and 72 others injured in a fire at a chemical plant in the Russian city of Nizhnekamsk, Russia emergency services reported.
Chemical company Sibur, who owns the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant, a preliminary cause of the incident was an equipment malfunction that triggered an explosion and subsequent fire.
The mayor of Nizhnekamsk said windows were blown out in a number of residential buildings nearby, and other property was also damaged as a result of the incident.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim is one of Europe’s largest petrochemical enterprises and is part of the Sibur company.
