For more than a year, a mobile swimming-pool lorry has been travelling across rural areas of the Moselle department in northeastern France, bringing swimming lessons directly to schoolchildren.
The initiative aims to address difficulties faced by schools in communes where municipal pools are distant or unavailable.
The truck, equipped with a heated pool, filtration systems and a movable floor, allows instructors to teach basic aquatic skills in a controlled environment.
Teachers and lifeguards say the project helps reduce travel time while offering pupils regular access to swimming instruction close to their schools.
