Floods in Cadiz region

Video. Strong water torrents hit Ubrique after storms in Spain’s Cadiz region

Updated:

Heavy rainfall following recent storms has caused powerful water torrents in the mountainous area of Ubrique, in southern Spain’s Cadiz province.

The worst of storms Leonardo and Marta has passed over Spain’s Andalusia region, but weather alerts remain in place, particularly in the province of Cadiz.

Continued heavy rainfall in the Sierra de Cadiz mountains has caused strong torrents of water to rush through the upper parts of the town of Ubrique, where steep terrain accelerates the flow.

Several residents, especially elderly people, have been temporarily cut off.

Emergency workers have installed temporary walkways to help residents move safely through affected areas as flooding continues to disrupt daily life.
