Syrians marked the first anniversary of the ousting of former President Bashar Assad on Monday with public gatherings across several cities.
Participants waved the country’s new green flag, previously used by opposition groups, while officials and community leaders spoke about ongoing efforts to rebuild state institutions and restore international relations.
Thousands later attended a military parade, where Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa delivered a speech commemorating the fall of the Assad regime.
