Around 1,000 participants turned Michendorf into a sea of red on Sunday for the 17th St Nicholas Run. The annual race, held in the run-up to Christmas, brought runners from across Germany dressed in traditional red coats and white beards.
Organised by the Michendorf Running Club, the event offered distances of 2.5, 5, and 10 kilometres. Children joined the one‑kilometre Zipfelmützenlauf, or 'pointy hat run'. No athletic standard was needed, only enthusiasm and the required costume.
The run mixed light-hearted festivity with gentle exercise, marking the start of the local holiday season.
