Thousands of people marched in Madrid as part of more than 40 demonstrations held across Spain on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Protesters carried banners, chanted and beat drums to call for stronger measures against gender-based violence.
Many paid tribute to the 38 women killed so far this year, while some groups linked the march to broader social and political causes.
Representatives from several political parties attended, including Spain’s Minister of Equality Ana Redondo.
