Families gathered in a park for the event, armed with water pistols, following an invitation posted by firefighters on Instagram.
“Bring your water pistol and swimming clothes with you, because you’re guaranteed to get soaked,” the post read.
Dozens of children and adults joined the playful water fight, laughing and cooling off as temperatures soared.
“It’s a very good idea of them to help and cool us down and entertain us at the same time,” said Maarten, a local resident.
Much of Europe is sweltering under extreme heat, with health warnings issued across several countries due to soaring temperatures.
