Video. Storm Ivo causes more major flooding in Redon, red alert declared

The depression Ivo caused renewed flooding in Redon, with the Vilaine reaching 5.3 metres. Three western départements are on red alert and 1,000 people have been evacuated.

Storm Ivo hit north-west France on Wednesday, causing extensive flooding in Redon.

Three départements were placed on red alert following the passage of storms Eowyn and Herminia.

Around 1,000 people have been evacuated since the weekend.

In Redon, the Vilaine reached 5.3 metres, 60 cm higher than the previous day. The authorities are urging caution, while emergency services remain mobilised in the face of the continuing flooding.
