Updated:

Herminia has caused historic flooding in Brittany, severely affecting Ille-et-Vilaine. Emergency services are on high alert as the Vilaine rises.

Storm Herminia hit Brittany on Monday 27 January, causing widespread flooding, particularly in Ille-et-Vilaine, which is on red alert.

The city of Rennes, and villages like Guipry-Messac and Pont-Réan, had to deal with water levels not seen for about forty years, turning streets into rivers.

Emergency services are still on high alert as the Vilaine continues to rise, exceeding normal levels by more than 3.5 metres.

Herminia's heavy rain and strong winds have also hit Spain and the south-west of England, causing extensive damage.
